Biography
Cole Rizki is assistant professor of Latin American Studies in the Department of Spanish, Italian & Portuguese at the University of Virginia. Grounded in transgender and Latin American Studies, his research examines transgender politics and cultural production throughout the Americas. He is a co-editor of “Trans Studies
en las Américas,” a special issue of
TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, vol. 6, no. 2 (May 2019)
on Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Trans Studies. His writing appears in or is forthcoming with journals such as TSQ,
GLQ,
Radical History Review and
Journal of Visual Culture, among others. He holds a Ph.D. in Literature with a Certificate in Feminist Theory from Duke University and an M.A. in Spanish with a Certificate in Visual Culture Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
